July 1st Canada Day

I had a great day at the annual Bath Canada Day Parade! Lots of friendly faces lined the parade route and the park both before and after the parade. It was a well attended event and a

big shout out to the Bath Canada Day Committee who put on an outstanding day. Certainly without a doubt the best in the region.

July 6th Babcock Mill

I was able to attend the grand reopening of the Babcock Mill in Odessa. After many years of closure it is now open for tours throughout the summer. With the nearby park and Millhaven Creek you could make it a day. With the help of the Babcock brothers it has been restored to it original status and work will continue in the future on other levels.

July 12th TuNesday in the Park

The Monarchs provided the entertainment in Loyalist Park. TuNesday in the Park is a free event which is hosted by Loyalist Township during the summer months. The Lions Club is on site to collect for their food bank. The next concert with Django's Kitchen is Wednesday August 16th at Loyalist Park starting at 6:30pm.

July 26th Lennox and Addington's Federation of Agriculture

The federation put on a tour of three sites in the county to give new members of local councils a chance to see the operations and challenges of agriculture in our region. It was a well attended event which provided me with a better understanding of the local agricultural community and its needs.

Loyalist Township Renews Popular Red Envelope Program The concept is quite simple, residents are provided with a red envelope and an emergency patient information form. Residents fill the information in on the form including any allergies, medication, medical history, family doctor and an alternate contact. The form goes in the envelope and the envelope gets attached to the fridge. “Having this information available to first responders in an emergency situation can be a difference maker when a person is in medical distress and is unable to communicate with the attending emergency personnel,” said Director of Emergency Services & Fire Chief Fred Stephenson.

The Red Envelope Program is available for pickup for no charge at the Municipal Office in Odessa, the Amherstview and Odessa Fire Stations as well as at the Loyalist Family Health Care facility at 200 Speers Blvd in Amherstview.

FoodCycler Pilot Program

Loyalist Township is taking steps towards a greener and more sustainable future with the implementation of the FoodCycler pilot program. On Monday, June 26, 2023, staff were directed by Council to proceed with a 100 household FoodCycler pilot program. This innovative initiative that aims to address the issue of food waste while promoting environmental consciousness within the community was supported to proceed.

Looking ahead, FoodCycler has expressed a strong commitment to supporting Loyalist Township's goals. They have offered to provide additional assistance, including support for organizing events and delegations to present merits to Council. Their expertise and collaborative spirit will be instrumental in fostering a successful and sustainable program within the community.

The Township will continue to keep you updated on this initiative and how to get involved! For more information go to the following link.

We purchased a unit for our home and so far the results are quite favourable!

I enjoyed an evening on CJAI 101.3 Amherst Island Radio on the Friday night show discussing municipal life and spinning some tunes. A great evening with Eric Trembly.
