May 1 Committee of the Whole

The following items were discussed and moved onto Council

  • Staff Report SR2304 in regards to Commemorative Program to replace Park Memorial Program

  • Staff Report SR2360 Renewable Energy Fund Grant Review Sub-Committee

May 1 Committee of Adjustment

  • Approved two minor variances (SR2357 & SR2358) and one application for permission (SR2369) from residents.

May 4 Conservation Authority Administration Ad Hoc Committee

  • As it was the first meeting of the new committee an election of officers was held

  • An update was given on the progress of the new administration building and a virtual tour was given by staff

May 6 Wilton Cemetery

Along with members of the Cemetery board and members of the community I spent the morning helping with the spring clean up at the Wilton Cemetery.


May 8 10th Session of Council

The following were received by Council

  • A delegation from the 1st Amherstview/Bath Scouts

  • An Economic Development Report From Lennox & Addington Community and Development Services

  • A Strategic Plan Update and work plan from staff which was approved

The following items were approved by Council

  • The establishment of a Reserve Fund for Family Physician Recruitment Incentive

  • Facility requests from Air Cadets and 1st Amherstview/Bath Scouts

  • Authorized a two year agreement with the Jr. C Jets for a pilot program to assign advertising rights to the team for $15,000

  • Removed holding pattern for Babcock Mills Phase 5

  • The Heritage Permit Application to allow clean up and first phase restoration of Babcock Mill

May 11 Conservation Authority Planning and Permitting

  • Staff presented a plan to complete a three year review of planning and policy initiatives

  • A comprehensive timeline was presented which will allow this process to be completed early in 2024

May 23 11th Session of Council

The following were received by Council

  • A resident presentation on the need for municipal bus service to Odessa and area to service the needs of seniors in the area

  • An overview of the Draft Joint Community Safety Well Being Plan for Loyalist and Greater Napanee which was later approved by Council

  • A report on the More Homes For Everyone Act

  • Staff reports on Supplementary Tax Billing and Building Activity

  • Staff was directed to review and report back with recommendations on the potential of by-laws for Short Term Accommodations

The following items were approved by Council

  • Tenders were approved for the Odessa West Reconstruction and Storm Water Improvements

  • A Green Municipal Funding Feasibility Study agreement was entered into in regards to the property at 237 Jim Snow Drive

  • The potential road closing at 5526 Bath Road was approved with the condition of a fair market value appraisal being done

  • Removed the holding symbol for the Ready Mix Cement Plant

  • Proclaimed National Accessibility Week

May 24 Latham Pools

Along with other members of council and staff I attended the grand opening of Latham Pools in the Industrial Park. Currently the plant employs 75 staff with number to grow as markets expand. The Senior Management of Latham Pools gave attendees a short history of the project and shared some of the directions they wish to take in the future.
